Pikmin Returns, another gaming website to add to my portfolio. This website had to be recreated from complete scratch. It’s had a name change, an image change and everything has been customised for the website.
Within Pikmin Returns, they use many free materials, they use News Fusion, which is a free automated news script, which also has a RSS feed system attached to it. It has a Coppermine Photo Gallery, which has also been customised with a little PHP editing, and mainly image editing. It has also got a phpBB forum software installed, with the appropriate modifications that are needed with that software to make it functional. Furthermore, the skin has been completely customised.
This website only took a few days to make. As you can see, the layout is clean and simple. The main layout itself is completely coding compliant, many of the content pages are also compliant; however, not all of them are as I was not asked to revive all of the pages. Only to create new ones. Within these new pages, all of the standards reach HTML 4.0.1.
The layout itself is held together with spit and glue, no, it’s actually held together with HTML tables. Which in itself is something that I really do not enjoy doing; however, the users who will be using this website are less than likely to have fully updated browsers. Furthermore, the CSS would have been incredibly difficult to make work with the existing content, owing to the tabulated data within there.
The layouts for each of the pieces of software installed onto this website, which was done by me, are all customised, and yet fit into the overall ‘green’ theme of the website.
