Sage Industries: Away!
| About Us | Contact | Portfolio | Thoughts |

Welcome to my blog and portfolio. I write about standards compliant web design and anything else that comes to mind!

Yes, I’ve been away. Again! I can hear you all cry. Well, not literally. I’ve just been incredibly busy recently. Getting back into my full time job can kill you sometimes. I love extended periods of leave (re-modelling the place). But to go back. It’s just awful sometimes.

As you’re all aware, this is just a freelance job. I enjoy working on webdesign projects. It’s a way to relieve the stress of the day. On some nasty hard CSS coding, I can just vent my anger into the code. Or at least stew in the corner of the room cursing it with words that you can’t even say in public. But it works for me.

Going back to work full time, well, it’s just not the atmosphere that I crave. But it has the financial security that I need, require. It’s not even in the webdesign world. It’s, just, dull. I’ve considered multiple times jumping into the webdesign world, full time. But most places these days require flash knowledge.

Flash!? The only good flash website I’ve seen in a long time was pointed out to me by Nathan Pitman, here. Even that can get a little annoying after about ten minutes, although it does have a novelty factor. Flash is old now. It was a fad that came in, and then ran away, quickly, thank goodness. They took forever to load, they were hard to navigate. Not forgetting they lacked the fluid-ness that I love in layouts.

To extend my own public portfolio, I’ve considered many things, I’ve considered redesigning this website. As I admit, it can’t attract people to my website. I look at it, and I love it. It’s very me. It’s a clash of two things, that blend reasonably. But from the aspect of a potential client, it looks, odd, and even, unattractive. However, a conventional layout just wouldn’t do it for me. I’m not really sure about how else to extend my portfolio. I’m full of musings now.

So, to cut this, ramble short, a week back at work, and I wish I was doing this full time.
